I felt that this was the niche where I could thrive, helping people feel confident in front of the camera. Now, success feels even more profound when a client, especially someone who’s been putting off a headshot for years, tells me afterward, “That was actually really fun!” Creating that comfort and enjoyment is what makes me feel I’ve succeeded.

Leigha: My ideal clients are those who see their brand as a story and want to collaborate with me to tell it. I love working with personal branding clients who understand that the connection they create through their photos is what helps clients know, like, and trust them. For these clients, I provide everything from styling assistance to sneak peeks within 24 hours, full image usage rights, and quick turnarounds—always with the goal of capturing their essence in every shot.

Leigha: My background as a social media manager for influencers and local businesses gives me a deep understanding of what a brand needs to stand out. I’ve worked with over 1,000 clients, and I focus on making sure each one looks amazing and feels comfortable. My process incorporates unique poses, natural lighting, and intentional composition to make photos that feel like an asset to their brand. I go beyond taking pictures—I help clients feel they’re genuinely seen. I also offer lifestyle sessions, so no matter the context, the authenticity of my clients’ stories always comes through.

Q: What advice would you give to women who aspire to lead and make an impact in their fields?
Leigha: Step just outside your comfort zone—great things happen there! Also, be generous with your “competition.” I have several photographer friends who, while technically competitors, feel more like comrades. We share resources and refer clients to each other if one of us is unavailable or doesn’t specialize in a particular type of shoot. There’s enough opportunity for everyone, and collaboration often creates better results than competition.
Q: How do you nurture your mental and emotional health while pursuing high professional goals?
Leigha: I keep a morning routine for reflection and writing, and I take walks during golden hour—the same time I love to shoot—to keep my creativity fresh. I also have a side craft, currently pressing flowers, which lets me unwind and focus on something completely different. These routines help me find balance, recharge, and keep my passion for photography alive.
Q: What’s one thing you do regularly that keeps you grounded and focused?
Leigha: While editing, I listen to podcasts that explore the diversity of people’s lives. It’s a reminder of all the different ways we can live and the beauty in each one. Hearing these stories helps me stay curious and appreciate the life I’m creating. It keeps me motivated to contribute to my community, bring out the best in my clients, and keep that magic flowing.
